Random Pictures of Blim

This was the best snack station ever!! Who else sells Sumo Stew, freshly cooked gyoza and has a DIY noodle bar!?

XLMAMMALS!

Blim was my last craft fair of the season. Thank you to everybody that braved the cold weather and snow to come out to the event!

lip balm

I have always wanted to make my own lip balm and I finally made my first batch this afternoon. The hardest part was finding all of the ingredients.

French vanilla. I have lip balm for life now. Seriously.

day three pt.2

Driving back home in a blizzard and making a lunch stop at Burgerville in Centralia!

17.12.08

day three pt.1

Snow! We woke up to lots of snow on Sunday! So much snow that people couldn't drive up small hills and the radio announced that you needed chains before entering downtown.

Driving to the Oregon Convention Center

Taking a peek inside during the final stages of set up. Due to the snow, a handful of vendors were late and some booths were even completely empty.

Here's Gnorman hanging out with Torie (left) and Cathy (right) in the background.

We arrived an hour before opening and shortly after this was the line up to get in despite the storm outside.

16.12.08

day two

Day two was all about Portland. We started the day with breakfast at Grand Central Bakery and then traveled around town thrifting and picking up items for M's kidlets. It was an action packed day as we had to check in to the Convention Center at 5pm to assist with vendor check in and set up.

Could you imagine if the holiday Got Craft had this much space!? The Oregon Convention Center is quite unique in the fact that it costs $6 to park there all day plus free transit that stops right in front.

Checking in over 125 vendors at Crafty Wonderland.

day one

Day one was technically on Friday, but since my internet connection was finicky for the entire trip, I didn't get a chance to post until now.

Despite the rain and cold weather, we, along with Gnorman the gnome (get it? so bad, but so good), made a visit to Pike Place Market and then grabbed a coffee and some sandwiches for lunch at Le Panier.

Just before we left for Portland, we popped into Schmancy and met Kristen from Urban Craft Uprising. UCU is held every December over two days and it is the ultimate indie craft fair in Seattle with 7800 attendees this year. Keep an eye on their website for some new events!

Got Craft is heading South

Got Craft is heading south the next few days with stops in Seattle and Portland. We are off to schmooze and learn new things at Crafty Wonderland while spreading the word!

See you next week.

My lovely new gnome is by the wonderful Jason and Jocelan from Cutesypoo Toys and the kawaii mushroom charms will be available by me at the Blim Holiday Market on December 20th!

looking for a new home

We are looking for a venue in the Main Street / Commercial Drive area that will be able to hold monthly Got Craft events. The ideal space will have enough room for 10 to 15 vendors and be a part of a restaurant / business that had extra room or didn't open a part of their venue during the day. We want the monthly Got Craft events to become a part of Vancouver's weekend ritual.

The monthly events will happen between June to November with the Spring Got Craft being the kick off and the Holiday Got Craft ending the year. Both the May and December Got Craft events will remain at the Royal Canadian Legion on Commercial Drive.

If something pops into your mind, please contact us.

THANK YOU!

Thank you to everybody that came out and supported Got Craft. We love you.

Got Craft was sheer insanity! Shoppers were lined up at 9:00am for a 11:00am start time. Good thing they were early though, by 11:00am there was a good line up from the second floor to the street and around the corner. By 11:15am, 100 people had already come through the doors. That wasn't even the end of it. There was a line up to the street for the first two hours of the show. It was crazy. We had to close the doors, because there was so many people inside!

Our final attendee count came in at a whopping 1175 at 5:30pm (6pm closing). We had a very very busy few weeks distributing cards / posters, attending 12 different craft shows and just spreading the word and it looks like it paid off.

More photos can be found on the lotus events blog here.

Thanks to Kimli and Miranda from Blue Olive Photography for coming out and taking pictures of the event.

On a side note, both Kimli and Blue Olive are up for the best of 604 awards. Please go vote for them here.

We are off to Crafty Wonderland this week to help them with their Holiday Extravaganza. Stay tuned for some exciting Got Craft news for the new year!

Nicole from Its Your Life and I shared a table at I Heart Crafts yesterday. Lots of Got Craft postcards and buttons were given away, lots of goodies were sold and lots of new goodies were purchased. We sat next to a bee keeper and his wife so we HAD to walk away with 3 jars of honey :)

Thanks to all the vendors that we met and dropped off postcards to this weekend at Portobello West, Britannia Community Center, Roundhouse Community Center and the West End Community Center!

It was a little wet out yesterday, but I saw the first Got Craft poster up on a city poster drum!

UPDATE: The yarn has been spoken for. Thanks!!!

FREE bag stuffed to the brim of yarn. Lots and lots of yarn. Vintage yarn. This is from either my grandma's or eldest aunt's stash. There are price stickers on here from Eatons, Sears and Woodwards.

If you want it, please send me an email. You need to be able to come by and pick it up though. The bag is quite heavy.

Upcoming shows

I can't believe I haven't posted since Wednesday!

What's new?

Craft magazines arrived in the mail!! Woot.

I was at the crafty get together hosted by the Craft Mafia last night. Thanks to Lili for the invite! Met lots of new faces and handed out a few posters and postcards.

Lots of crafty events happening this weekend including One of a Kind, Eastside Cultural Crawl, Fallen for Etsy, Fab Fair and Maternal Creations. For a full events calendar, visit our Around Town section here.

A friendly reminder that postcards and posters are available for pick up. If you are going to be at any of the above shows, please let me know and we can arrange for some to be dropped off. If you did not receive an emailable flyer, please let me know and I will send a copy to you.

Are you on facebook? Join the Got Craft group and invite all of your friends!!

Plenty of cool swag have been coming in through the last few weeks. Ever since the Fall / Winter hit, the light in my apartment has been a little on the dark side. I hope to post some pictures soon.

the Mustache Press

I love buttons and the Mustache Press is the perfect place for all of your button needs!

Last year, Lindsay and Nic donated 500 buttons to Got Craft and everybody loved them! They are back for another round of Got Craft and I am pleased to announce that they will also be at our new wedding show called Indie I Do on January 17th, 2009.

If buttons are not your thing, the Mustache Press also has a great selection of original stationary and posters!

13.11.08

Craft Magazine @ Got Craft

One lucky attendee will have the opportunity to walk away with a complete boxed set of Craft Magazine - The First Year. That's 4 magazines in a lovely gift box valued at $80.00!

A BIG thank you to Craft Magazine! For more information about Craft Magazine or for a subscription, please visit their website and show your support!

Fallen for Etsy

The holiday craft fair season has started. If you haven't already visited the Around Town section on the Got Craft website, then go grab your daytimer and click here.

I signed up to participate in 3 fairs this year. Which is 2.5 times more than last year. However, I have not been crafting 2.5 times more than last year. Not to worry though, I have lots of new ideas and have already started making some old favourites.

My first fair of the year is Fallen For Etsy on Sunday, November 23rd at the Welsh Hall. Other Got Craft vendors that will be there include Stitchella, Smeeta and Little Red Caboose. See you there!

bag update

Hot off the assembly line and freshly gocco'd. My apologies for the dark pictures, but it was late and dark outside.

pomo mama design

Some exquisite images of hand crafted wire and bead jewelry by pomo mama design. Amanda makes some of the most beautiful wire pieces that I have ever seen. Her entire collection can be found on her website here. Of course, feel free to drop by Got Craft on Sunday, December 7th and meet her in person!
